I actually saw people this weekend, amazing! My good friend Marcie came over on Saturday to hang out for a little bit after getting her hair done. It was so nice to see her, as it had been probably 3-4 months since we last hung out. She had a blast with Owen, and Owen just loved her to death, it was so cute. Then yesterday, I went to a baby shower for Steve's best friend's wife. Since Owen can't be far from the tap, I was only able to stay for about an hour before leaving. But then when I got home, Owen was asleep in the swing, and slept for another hour, so I could've stayed longer. Oh well.

Now for the real reason we've all gathered here today - picture time! )

Bang bang!

* I actually woke up pretty easily this morning for my doctor's appointment. Not bad for someone who is dead to the world before 10am. I think I spent more time changing my address, phone number, and insurance information than I did with the actual doctor, which is par for the course. He didn't like the look of one of the bumps on my chest, so I have to wait a couple of weeks to get the referral to see a dermatologist. Stupid HMO.

* I went to Gymboree after getting back from the doctor's and ended up buying all of the items I listed in my last post, woo hoo! I spent $125 without the Gymbucks, which I think is the most I've ever spent in one trip there. I realize that I could've waited a month or so for it all to go on sale, but I had Gymbucks to burn, so I did it all now. I was smart and got each outfit in a different size so that he could wear the line for a long time. The little two-piece green outfit is 6-12 months, the top and overalls is 12-18 months, and the long-sleeved shirt and cargo pants are 18-24 months.

* The potato soup ended up being pretty tasty! I didn't like the smell of the dill weed (anyone else think of Beavis and Butthead when they hear those words?), so I thought the soup was going to taste like ass, but after I put in some salt and shredded cheddar cheese, it was quite tasty. Steve had two huge bowls of it, so it was a success, hooray!

* I could swear that Owen called me Mama today. He was lying on his bear rug, and I was standing up next to the couch, putting my hair into a ponytail. I was looking away from him, and he was whining a little bit, when all of a sudden, I heard him say "Mama," clear as day. Crazy!

* Poor Owen got kinda burned by his bath tonight. I crank the kitchen faucet to the hottest setting so that the water could heat up faster, and when Owen was sitting in his bath seat, his foot touched the stream. I was in the bathroom (Steve was with him), and I heard the most awful scream from him. He was fine a minute later, but I felt bad for the poor little guy, he sounded like he was in a lot of pain. There was no redness though, so Steve thinks it probably scared him more than anything.

* Going to get my hair cut tomorrow, eek! I don't know why I'm so nervous. It's only hair; it will grow out if I hate it.

Oh you evil Gymboree! As some of you may know, today is the first day of Gymbucks redemption, and to commemorate this event, Gymboree has put out their new lines. And you know what they have for baby boys? DINOSAURS!!! I swear, I just need to get a job there so I can blow my entire paycheck there.

Oh sh!t, mommy's gonna do some shopping! )

Oh yum

You know those chocolate oranges that you smack on a hard surface, and they split up into slices? I LOVE those things, and I think they're only around during Christmas. I got one in my stocking for Christmas, then bought 3 more at the store a couple of weeks ago. I was at the store today, and I bought 5 more!

Woo hoo!

Owen only took one short 30-minute nap today, so he went down for the evening at 7:15, woo hoo! We'll see if he actually stays asleep for more than an hour. Poor Steve didn't get to see much of him today; it's a good thing we picked him up for lunch.

I have a doctor's appointment at 7:45 tomorrow morning, early! I asked for the first appointment of the day, so that Owen wasn't sitting in a cloud of germs with me. I really don't have anything against germs, but I don't want to deal with a sick baby, so I'd rather keep him away from all the sick people. The receptionist sighed at me when I asked for an early appointment. Sorry, if my kid gets sick, do you want to take care of him? No? Well, neither do I.

Anyway, I'm going to see the doctor to get a referral to see a dermatologist. The last time I went was about 3 years ago; bad, I know. I called about a year ago to see the doctor, but he was no longer with the practice, and I just didn't feel like dealing with it. I've had these little lesions on my chest that itch and hurt, and I know they aren't good. I've just been too afraid to go to the doctor and find out that it's something bad. Obviously, putting it off just makes it worse, but logic doesn't usually win out over irrational fear. Wish me luck!

I have an appointment to get my hair cut on Friday at 10am. I really hope that goes well. I'm afraid I'm going to hate the cut, because I haven't cut my hair short in years, and when I did have it short, I didn't really like it.

Tomorrow, I'll be making a potato soup in my crock pot that [livejournal.com profile] karlatta posted in the crock pot recipes thread on CC. I'm hoping it turns out good!

Owen went down last night at about 8:30, woke up around 1:30 or so (I think, maybe he didn't wake up at all), then didn't wake up again until about 6:10. I fed him in bed, and he went back to sleep until 9:40! Woo hoo for sleeping in!

Unfortunately, Steve was still sleeping when I got up with Owen. That means, yes, he's going into work late again. He didn't come to bed until 1:30am! I bitched him out when he came to bed. I should clarify that he will be working until 7:30, so he's still getting a full day of work in, but the point of last week and this week was for him to score some major overtime. Now that he's a supervisor, they can't make him work it though, and he's taking advantage of that, which I think is shitty. Plus, his hockey team owes $800 to the league, and he's going to be paying it himself, and hoping that he'll get some reimbursement from the team. That hit would be a lot easier to take if it had come out of his overtime check, but since he's not working as much overtime, there goes that.

In other news, I'm about 100 pages away from finishing the third book I picked up at the library. Three books in a week? I'm impressed with myself :). I finished the first book in two days, and the second book in about 3. I think I'm on the 3rd day of this book now. And here I was, stressing about whether or not I'd be able to finish 4 books in 3 weeks. The last one looks a little more serious than the other 3 I've read, and thicker too, so that'll probably take longer to finish.

First, allow me to vent for 2 seconds. Steve is such a whiny bitch sometimes, it drives me nuts! He was supposed to start work at 7:30 this morning, but because he went to bed too late, and had a hockey game last night, he emailed his work (at like 7:15!) to tell them that he was going in at 11. Fine, whatever. He tells me this and crawls back into bed.

Owen started stirring in his crib, and while he was fussing a little, he wasn't crying or anything. In fact, I slept through most of it, so I doubt he was making that much noise. Steve started bitching about how I've let him whine for like 40 minutes, so I get up and get Owen to feed him. I sit back down on the bed, and then Steve starts whining about how he's trying to sleep and Owen is making too much noise. Your ass should be at work right now, don't bitch at me!!! Jerk.

Anyway, so onto the need for expertise. I'm going to be cutting my hair. SHORT. I need some serious ideas that won't make me look like 1 - a lesbian (I have nothing against lesbians, I just don't want to look like one), 2 - a boy (I have nothing against boys...;)). It also needs to be easy to maintain. Bobs, pixie cuts, whatever. Pictures would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

And to play Heather's Did You Know game:

1. Did you know that I played a nun in our school production of Sound of Music when I was in 5th grade?

2. Did you know that I used to be a surgical tech before I had Owen?

3. Did you know that I am a Pepsi fiend?

Owen got up like 4 times last night, which makes for one sleepy mama. I'm lucky that I don't have a kid who wakes up at 6:30am everyday, but even still, I have such a hard time getting up in the morning. Usually Owen will sleep until about 8:30 or 9, but today, it was like 7:45, blah. He's sitting in his high chair right now, eating some banana in his mesh feeder because the avocado wasn't going over too well today.

I joined yet another mom's group (actually, I tried to join 2, but I don't know what happened with the other one), and now my inbox is getting flooded with meetups, yikes! Plus, they're a little further away than the other group that I joined. But Jennifer [livejournal.com profile] rancid13 is in this one, so I thought I'd go on the days that she's going so that I have someone to talk to.

There's a cute little boy behind the cut! )

Blue Man Group was awesome last night! Our seats were really good, but of course I got stuck behind a tall lady with bitch bangs. It was a really fun show though.

You'll also be happy to know that Owen and I both did very well with our separation last night :). Earlier in the day, I seriously thought I was going to cry when I left, but I was perfectly fine walking out the door. Owen went to bed a little later than usual, and ended up waking up right as the show was ending, so he was up when we got home. The benefit to that is that he ended up not getting up for the day until 10:30 this morning, sweet!

I'm happy to say that I've already finished Confessions of a Shopaholic, go me :D! I thought it was a really cute book. The letters from the banks and credit cards were so funny, and I was seriously laughing out loud at the one from the Bank of Helsinki. Good stuff. I found myself getting really annoyed with her when she just kept piling on the lies; invested much?

In other news, my Billy Joel tickets have been printed, woo hoo :D!

Owen is sitting in his Jumperoo right now, eating the little bug that's attached to it. He doesn't know how to properly jump in the thing. I've never bothered to try doing it for him, but I did it just now, and he was cracking up! Now he just needs to figure out how to do it himself, rather than hopping from foot to foot.

* I went to the library today and got 4 books. I've apparently set a lofty goal for myself, to finish 4 books by the end of January. I got Confessions of a Shopaholic, Night Swimming, How to Be Cool, and The Last Boy. Anyone have any comments about any of the last three books I listed? They just jumped out at me, and I'm hoping they're good. I started Confessions of a Shopaholic already. I'm about 60 pages in and love it so far.

* Mr. Owen is asleep already and it's only 8:20. He went down at about 7:45, which is uncharacteristically early for him. Looks like Steve will be joining him soon. Poor guy has been putting in a ton of hours at work this week.

* Saturday night is Blue Man Group, woo hoo! I'm very excited, but also a little apprehensive, as it will be our first baby-free evening since Owen was born. Yeah, just a little late ;). I'm sure he'll be fine, but he's used to being nursed to bed, so I won't be surprised if he's still awake when we get home.

* I'm proud that I've been eating a little healthier lately. Even though I'm still having fast food, I've been getting chicken soft tacos at Taco Bell, which are nothing but chicken, lettuce, and cheese. No sauce or anything. I've been cooking more, and adding more fruit to my diet. Yay me!

* I was interested in joining a mom's group that I read about in Parents magazine, and I have yet to attend a meeting or other event. You guys probably wouldn't know this about me, including those of you who know me in person, but I'm very shy, and don't do well in social settings. Plus, I'm afraid this group will be so high school and clique-y. I know I'll never know unless I go, and I seriously don't know what I'm so afraid of. Bah.

I'm in section 106, row 8, seats 5 and 6. I've never been on the floor before, so I know it's going to be hard to see, but at least I know these people will be standing up. Last time I saw him, I was in a total douche section, and no one stood up. After a while, I said screw it, and rocked out.

I'M GOING TO SEE BILLY JOEL ON FEBRUARY 23RD!!!!!! Steve just got an email for a presale on tickets for a one-night only show. This will be my 5th time seeing him, and I got floor seats, woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess that's one thing I failed to mention; I'm a huge Billy Joel fan. I've seen him 4 times, and have just about every album. Steve asked me to follow him into the office, and he said that he would watch Owen for the night so that I could go out. I am so freaking excited!

* I guess Owen's days of sleeping through the night are over. Boo. They were nice while they lasted.

* I am constantly paranoid that I have left the stove on whenever I cook. The one time I think I've turned it off, I just about singed my eyebrows off because the burner was still on. Hello mommy brain.

How interesting that there's such a sharp division between Democrat and Republican candidates.

I finally got to sleep in this weekend, hooray! Saturday night, Steve was asking for a little action, and I said only if he would get up with Owen. After a minute of thinking about it, he said "Nah, I better not because I have a hockey game tomorrow." Oh wow, was I pissed! But 5 minutes later, he said okay. So the next morning, he got up with Owen, and I got to sleep in until 12:30, beautiful! I know, it was insanely late, but it felt so good :). So we're making a routine that I get to sleep in every Saturday, woo hoo! We'll see how long that lasts. Unfortunately, the busy part of the semester starts this week, and he has to work the next two Saturdays, boo.

We've been getting tons of rain over the past few days and I absolutely love it! It wasn't very fun driving in it last night, but that's okay. I love to hear it and watch it come down, and God knows we need it here after getting basically no rain last year. Today, it's beautiful and sunny, though quite cold, and I'm already missing the rain.
