41 weeks!

Yesterday, Steve and I did some walking. We walked around the mall in the afternoon after a yummy burger at Fuddruckers, and then we took a walk through the neighborhood at about 8pm. I barely made it home in time to use the bathroom, which I was hoping would be a positive sign of something, but nothing! When we got home from our mall walk, I went online and saw that another June mommy had her baby about a week ago. At that point, I pretty much lost it. I was walking into the kitchen and I dropped my plastic cup, so I threw it away, and then went to lie down, where I started bawling. I can't even describe how awful I felt.

Following "doctor's orders" and the recommendations from some of the lovely ladies here, Steve and I also decided to DTD last night. I thought it was going to be a logistical and physical nightmare, but it actually ended up being quite good, for those who care ;). Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have worked, as I'm still sitting here pregnant!

I'm still really on the fence about canceling and/or rescheduling my induction. On the one hand, I'd like to see if my body will do what it's supposed to do. I'm dilating and effacing, I'm just not contracting. On the other hand, we do have some time constraints squeezing down on us, and I'm just tired of waiting. I want to see how today goes, but I don't know that it's going to help at all.

Thanks! I'm really concerned about the increased possibility of a c-section too, so that's another reason why I'm on the fence. I like to think that since I've been dilating and effacing, it won't come to that, but who knows.

And if I remember correctly, you're a wuss with pain like I am, so if my experience is as good as yours, then I'll be happy :).

Yeah I'm a huge wuss with pain. For me personally, recovery was very easy. I figure it would be even easier with a vaginal birth (as they'd let you out of the hospital 1-2 days sooner than with a c/s).

Just remember to keep taking the pain meds *before* you start to feel the pain full-force and take it easy. I know for some folks it was 1-2 weeks (or more) before they could be walking around and carrying the baby by themselves, but I was able to do that within 2-3 days no problem. I stopped taking my pain meds about 3 or 4 days after my c/s and would take them on occasion like if I sneezed or coughed and caused pain to my midsection from doing so. And try to get up and walk around as soon as you're able to, even if it's just taking a 20 minute hobble from the bed across the room. I think when you get moving sooner, it helps the body get into recovery mode quicker...
