41 weeks!

Yesterday, Steve and I did some walking. We walked around the mall in the afternoon after a yummy burger at Fuddruckers, and then we took a walk through the neighborhood at about 8pm. I barely made it home in time to use the bathroom, which I was hoping would be a positive sign of something, but nothing! When we got home from our mall walk, I went online and saw that another June mommy had her baby about a week ago. At that point, I pretty much lost it. I was walking into the kitchen and I dropped my plastic cup, so I threw it away, and then went to lie down, where I started bawling. I can't even describe how awful I felt.

Following "doctor's orders" and the recommendations from some of the lovely ladies here, Steve and I also decided to DTD last night. I thought it was going to be a logistical and physical nightmare, but it actually ended up being quite good, for those who care ;). Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have worked, as I'm still sitting here pregnant!

I'm still really on the fence about canceling and/or rescheduling my induction. On the one hand, I'd like to see if my body will do what it's supposed to do. I'm dilating and effacing, I'm just not contracting. On the other hand, we do have some time constraints squeezing down on us, and I'm just tired of waiting. I want to see how today goes, but I don't know that it's going to help at all.

Ah, you poor thing! I know how tired you must be! I can't give you any suggestions, because I was 8 days late and tried EVERYTHING!! I was totally up to induction, but Kassidy came 2 days early. Stay strong...you'll have your little man in your arms soon, I promise! ;)

I was hoping he'd come before his induction time, but I'm really not sure that he will. I have some mild cramping that's persistent, but no contractions to go along with it.

Didn't your doctor say he was on the big side when he guesstimated? All the baby is doing at this pt is gaining weight, so personally, I'd rather get in for the induction than deliver a 10 lb baby, kwim?

Hopefully a suprise is in store for you tonight.

My doctors never guesstimated his weight, so I have no clue how big he is. However, that was a concern of mine, that he would be huge if I wait too long.

This is the part of the pregnancy that no amount of reading can really prepare you for. The whole line in the sand of the EDD. Even though, in reality, most first time moms go late. It's still pressure- you're beyond the date. Your breakdown last night is totally normal and, I may add, reasonable. You've been told since minute one you'd have your boy at or around 6/17. It's now the 24th and still no go.Hang in there. One way or another you're almost done. You've done so well with this pregnancy, Heather. You're almost there!

Thanks :)! It just sucks to hear a doctor say that he'll be 2-3 days late, and then at the next appointment, the doctor says that there's a 2/3 chance that I'll go into labor on my own after having my membranes swept. It's like, what does it take?!

You look awesome!

Being induced wasn't fun. Also, you're more likely to end up with a c-section.

Thanks! I'm really concerned about the increased possibility of a c-section too, so that's another reason why I'm on the fence. I like to think that since I've been dilating and effacing, it won't come to that, but who knows.

In the end, a c-section wasn't that bad. Honestly.

And if I remember correctly, you're a wuss with pain like I am, so if my experience is as good as yours, then I'll be happy :).

Yeah I'm a huge wuss with pain. For me personally, recovery was very easy. I figure it would be even easier with a vaginal birth (as they'd let you out of the hospital 1-2 days sooner than with a c/s).

Just remember to keep taking the pain meds *before* you start to feel the pain full-force and take it easy. I know for some folks it was 1-2 weeks (or more) before they could be walking around and carrying the baby by themselves, but I was able to do that within 2-3 days no problem. I stopped taking my pain meds about 3 or 4 days after my c/s and would take them on occasion like if I sneezed or coughed and caused pain to my midsection from doing so. And try to get up and walk around as soon as you're able to, even if it's just taking a 20 minute hobble from the bed across the room. I think when you get moving sooner, it helps the body get into recovery mode quicker...

I'm sorry you're so late. I can imagine how frustrating it is. He'll be here eventually. I was two weeks late and I was (only) 8 lb 6 oz.

Whatever happens you'll have a beautiful baby in the end.

Steve and I were both "big" babies (I was 8lbs even, Steve was 8 1/2 pounds), and we were both early, so I'm hoping this kid isn't too big.

Do whatever you feel is right/best for you guys and little Owen. It could be that the cramping you're feeling is contractions. I had contractions for hours and hours before I even *felt* them (they sure showed up on the monitor though!)...all I thought was that my back was achy, and I guess those were the contractions in my case. Who knows? Maybe you'll get to the hospital tomorrow and get hooked up to the machines only to be told you're already in labor. Stranger things have happened!

I think we're just going to go for it at this point. I could wait another couple of days, but if nothing happens then, I'll just be more frustrated. I would LOVE to get to the hospital tomorrow and find out that I'm in labor, let's go for that ;)!

You look FABULOUS Heather! Cherish those last rolls and kicks and the overwhelming anticipation! I know how hard the waiting is but it really such a short time period when you look back.
