A letter to Owen

Dearest Owen,
Welcome to the world baby boy! You blessed us with your arrival on June 25, 2007, at 4:09pm, and your daddy and I were in love with you from the start. You got stuck on your way out, so you ended up with a little bruise on your head, but at 11 days old now, it's almost completely gone.
The first few days of having you home were very emotional for me. The very thought of you ever being alone or in pain had me in tears. You are such a sweet baby, I can't bear the thought of any harm ever coming to you. Even now, as I write this, you are in the other room, and I'm missing you like crazy.
Everytime I look at you, I swell with pride at the little miracle you are. You were created out of love, and you will be raised in a very loving home with two very loving parents. Your daddy has been so wonderful with you, and I hope that your bond with him continues to grow every day.
As I look at your beautiful little face, I wonder what life has in store for you. I wonder what your personality will be. I wonder if you will be an athlete, like your daddy, or a musician, like me. Maybe both, maybe neither. Will you be good at math, or will you have a knack for languages? I wonder if all the things we want to teach you in life will serve you well, and prepare you for life in the real world when it is your time to fly. My dream for you is that you are a kind, gentle soul, who cares for people, loves animals, and always tries to do the right thing.
Eleven days, how is it that you are 11 days old already! I wish I could stop time and spend eternity with you at this precious age. Alas, we all have to grow up someday. Just don't grow up too fast, okay?
I love you more than words could ever say,
Your mommy
