I just received my "Your one-week old" email from BabyCenter today. Gee thanks. And of all the June mommies, there are only 4 of us left who haven't had babies yet. Two of those mommies never post, so I'm sure there are just two of us left. How is it that I was due in the middle of the month and I'm one of the last ones?!

I'm seriously so upset about this, and I don't know why. I should be relishing these last days of being baby-free, but I just want to get this done and over with, and I want to meet this little guy. Yet, at the same time, I'm still thinking about putting off the induction, ack!

Oh, that one week old baby email ticked me off something fierce! I even made a post about it here.

Seriously, go out to dinner - try to forget about the impending birth. Go for a long walk - enjoy some romantic time with your husband. Just the two of you. Since N was born, we've only been out to eat a handful of times by ourselves. Friday night was heavenly, just getting to be with my hubby and not have to tend to a baby too. I love DD, but it's great to spend time with the hubby. :)

I remember being so frustrated. But, when I finally went into labor - it all went pretty quick! In contrast, my sil who was induced arrived at the hospital at 7 am (same as me), she had her baby at 10:30 pm - Nora arrived by 1:30 pm. :) Much, quicker.

Is there anything you haven't done? Have you gotten a pedicure recently? Get one!

I'm really hoping that something happens tonight; otherwise, I don't know what I'm going to do when I wake up at 3 to call the hospital.

I'm sure there are tons of things I haven't done, but I just don't feel up to doing any of them, kwim? I do need to forget about everything that's going on, or should I say everything that's NOT going on though.

Hey Heather!

Sorry you are so frustrated. I feel you...I was there just 11 weeks ago. Just so you know, I went in to labor a mere 24 hours before my induction date. You know it is bound to happen naturally for you VERY soon, so if putting off induction another few days will allow you have the birth experience you want then it is worth it. You only do this for the first time once....

I'm still holding out hope that something will happen in the next 10 hours, but I haven't gotten any signs yet. Steve and I just went power walking through two local malls, one of which was two stories. I figure if I can't walk him out, there's no hope for me :p.

I know exactly how you feel. I was getting those emails too. After reading your posts I went back and read my journals of how I was feeling and you even said to me to hang in there, that I'd get to meet my little one soon. All I can tell you is that it is all very worth the waiting. I would suggest getting tons of rest and sleep, ask the hubby for a foot rub, go for a pedicure, do some shopping, watch some movies. I found that right after Carys was born, I was having a lot of pain from my healing and I was really sick, and we were glad we had gone out and bought a bunch of tv series on dvd. They were perfect for the long breastfeeding sessions and naps together in bed and just resting up together.

Just think...when Owen gets here, you'll be so happy to see him you'll forgive him all the little baby problems he causes. *nods*

You know predicting birth is not an exact science. Every baby moves at their own pace. Alex was right on time with absolutely everything. Tabitha was early and I had labor pains off and on for three months -- like the kind they want you to go to the hospital about. Owen will be here when he gets here. You're tired, it's hot out, and the end is so close you can see it. Take a deep breath, exhale, put a smile on your face and watch some movies. **hugs** Babies are pretty much ready when they feel like it. ;)

Not to sound like a broken record here, but I remember being in your shoes. My dr. wanted to induce 2 days BEFORE my due date and I politely declined. 5 days after my due date, he wasn't willing to wait anymore and told me I was being induced that night. I had made practically zero progress on my own, so I was fearing a long pitocin-induced labor followed by a csection, but actually, it all went pretty smoothly and after they got my labor started, Lauren was born less than 7 hours later. I still would have rather had Lauren w/o being induced, so if you have the extra time and are still ok, I think pushing it a few more days isn't a bad option at all. My DH was wanting to induce the 2 days early like the dr. and was supportive but disappointed when I said no. So the next week, he was WAY too anxious to have waited again...so it depends on how you are both feeling at this point I guess.

Just wanted to let you know though, there are still a lot of success stories of pitocin-induced labors. I know of at least 5 of my friends IRL that ended up just fine (2 ended in csections). I think it sounds like you're ready to go, and pitocin would push you over that edge...but I totally agree...if you're so close, your body will do it on its own soon enough.

The initial later due date is interesting though...that could be part of the delay...maybe you really are due much later in June than the 17th?

Oh - and I feel ya on everyone else having delivered...I was also one of the last 2 (and they were born on the same day!). Everyone behind me, including some moms from the NEXT month had their babies before me, so frustrating. Hang in there, it won't be much longer at all!!

That's exactly what I'm afraid of, a long pitocin-induced labor that ultimately ends up in a c-section. And while I know that a c-section is far from the worst thing that could happen, I was hoping to avoid it. I originally wanted to do an amniotomy to start labor, but I fear that may put me more at risk. Steve and I were also thinking that the pitocin might push me over the edge. I've pretty much had no contractions; lots of BH, and some cramping, but not concurrently.

Actually, when the dr. broke my water is actually when labor was started for me! They started pitocin at 7am and kept uping it and uping it and nothing. Finally at 10am, he broke my water and BAM, instant contractions. They actually turned the pitocin off after that bc Lauren's heartrate took a dive and I continued to go on my own. Long labor ending in c was also my biggest fear. My mom said she wasn't worried about it bc both her and her mom had easy labors...apparently I'm the same as well:). How were your moms labors?

I actually have rupture of membranes checked off on the induction order from the doctor, but I have no idea when they will do it. My mom's labor with me was about 15 hours, I'm not sure about my middle brother, and I think it was only about 8 hours with my youngest brother.

I have really nice birthing hips, so he should've fallen out by now ;). I'm just hoping that they benefit me.

Hang in there hon! No woman in the history of womankind has ever been pregnant forever even if it feels right now like you'll be the first. Owen will be here soon no matter what, and before you know it your pregnant days will be a hazy memory. Rest up as much as you can, studies show labors are shorter in well-rested moms!

Hey there, sorry it's so frustrating waiting. I know it's no consolation, but I went 3.5 weeks early, and I didn't have all the little details ready, which made me kind of sad. I know the grass is always greener, though. Go see every movie you want while you have the chance! I haven't seen one in the theaters since I was pg.

Good luck, I hope Owen comes naturally before you need to be induced. If everything looks good, I hope you can push off the induction!

Was just trying to find the name of the restuarant in LA that has a salad you can order that will supposedly induce labor and found this on ivillage!

Here is the advice I give my patients who are near their due date and who are getting anxious to meet baby face-to-face: take a drive on a bumpy road, go home and scrub the floors, then eat some spicy food and have sex! It won't hurt, and at least you'll have a clean kitchen and won't be hungry

Hang in there! I really don't know what I would do regarding the induction. I have vowed to wait it out next time, after I had my induction, but honestly if I was past 41 weeks I think I would probably do it again. I would have no patience! Can you hold off on the Dr. breaking your water when you check in? Then you just take a little pitocin to jumpstart the contrax and maybe that will do the trick! Though, the 26th is a good day to have a birthday :D *thinking of you!*

That's where I'm at right now, so completely torn between the two. I'm just really hoping that I start labor on my own in the 9 or so hours, so that I can skip that part.

I'll keep the 26th in mind ;). I'm going in at 4am tomorrow if I decide to go through with it though, so I don't know (I'm hoping not for my own sanity!) that he'll make it that far.

I tried all the so-called natural labor inducing techniques and NONE of them worked for me. Lots of DTD, spicy food (mmm, kung pao!), walking, nipple stimulation (sorry if TMI), my ob stripped my membranes once that I know of. I think the folks who say this or that helped induce their labor were probably doing whatever it was at a time when the baby was done cooking and ready to come out anyhow. I hope everything goes well, whether you make it to the induction tomorrow am or wait a little longer to see if Owen comes along on his own!

I agree with you on that one. I really had hoped that sweeping my membranes twice would've gotten things going though. I guess it did something, since I've lost my mucous plug, but I guess I just need another nudge.

I know what would have helped-volunteering at my dance recital today! 7 hours on your feet with many screaming kids tugging at your legs!!
Hang in there. Again, I know nothing scientific, but i agree with the other posters that these days of being pregnant will soon be a far memory once Owen is here. I know you are so organized, so there is probaly nothing left for you to do to keep busy! Are you into scrapbooking? I know you have belly pics that could be organized? Or a baby scrapbook that could be outlined with different pages of development so they are ready for you to just pop the pics into later?
First word, first step, first tooth- Those things will all be here before you know it!
Sending you good labor vibes!!

That probably would've done it :D!

I bought a scrapbook kit, but that looks like something that will be worked on over the course of his first year.

You'd be surprised at how NOT organized I am. For being as anal and type A as I can be about certain things, I'm an absolutely lazy slob :p. Owen's room is ready to go; we only have to move the Pack n Play into our room, but we'll wait until we bring him home for that because I have 3 very curious kitties.
