Well ladies, I am still here, six days late! I can't even express how frustrated I am that nothing is happening right now. I thought I lost all of my mucous plug yesterday, but I've been noticing a lot today. For those of you who lost yours, how long was it before you went into labor? I'm reaching for anything at this point because I'm really wanting to avoid the induction. I feel like my body is failing me, which sucks because it really isn't. I'm dilating, I'm effacing, and I'm losing my mucous plug. What's the hold up?!

hang in there, honey. i know how frustrating it is at the end. i was 2 days late with stella and it was horrible, so i cant imagine how you must feel.

with stella i never lost my plug. well im sure at some point i did, but i never noticed it. with nathan it started coming out a week before i went into labor. then the rest came out the night before i went into labor.

are you absolutely going through with the induction or are you going to try and wait another week? he has to come out sooner or later, you know? im sure you have tried everything, but i recommend eating lots of spicy food (i hated spicy food but was downing hot and sour soup like mad when i was ready to be done with pregnancy) and eating at outback steakhouse. 2 of the february moms (myself included) went into labor the night we ate at outback.

Outback huh? I am always up for a huge ass steak, yum!

The induction has been scheduled, and though I guess I don't absolutely have to go, I should. We asked the doctor why he only wants us to go a week late, and he said that my cervix is very favorable for induction, and that if I hadn't dilated at all, then they would've let me go another week and just monitored me.

I woke up with strong pains that wrapped around my whole stomach and lower back and sat to pee and the mucous came out. I didnt think it was real labor so I got in some warm water and the rest came out. I called my husband home and went to the hospital immediately and I was already 6-7cm.

I would love to think I'm that far dilated after all the mucous I lost yesterday. I figured I had lost it all, but a couple of times today, I've had some too. I figure it has to be a sign, right?!

I was almost a week late with Eli...hang in there! I slowly lost my MP over a week or so. I would say I went in to labor a day or two after I lost the biggest chunk. My last meal was pizza...lots of basil and oregano. BTW, have you guys tried DTD?

We haven't tried DTD, but I'm getting to the point where I might entertain the thought, luckily for Steve ;).

You should. Spermies have prostaglandins (sp?) in it that is supposed to soften the cervix, plus the extra stimulation on the cervix may get contrax started!

Good luck!

Power walking. Power walking is the best to make regular productive labor. I basically got induced with Tab because frankly she wanted out and my doc figured what the heck. The drugs didn't do that much over the long term, but power walking did. I made more progress walking than I had all day on the drugs. I think I was a running joke at the nurses station. They were counting to see how many times I lapped the station with my book. Hang in there.

I agree 100% with mama gryphon. I went for a long walk (power walking) then that same night my water broke.

I think the average first pregnancy is 8 days late or something like that. I don't understand why doctor's all want to induce after one week - it's ridiculous. You have the power to say NO to the induction. They wanted to induce me when I was 38 weeks because I had gestational diabetes, even with my blood sugars being perfectly under control. I finally scheduled my induction for 41 weeks (reluctantly)and ended up going to labor the morning of my scheduled induction. So remember, you don't have to be induced if you don't want to be. You have had a perfect pregnany so far, I don't see why you would be at risk for anything.

You said it as well as I could have myself.

I know you're "over it", Heather. I know you want to hold him and you and Steve need to figure out what your tolerance level for waiting is but when I read the doctor saying "Your cervix is ripe and so induction should work" I think- "your body is doing what it's made to do, why force it before it's ready" That said, you *could* wait an additional week and STILL end up induced it's just a matter of what interventions you want and when.

I know, my body seems to be cooperating for the most part, but I'm wondering if it just needs that little nudge to send it over the edge. I'm kinda torn on it. For insurance purposes (we're switching from the PPO to HMO), Steve says (I'm not sure if it's right or not) he has to be here by the 30th, which would be next Saturday.

I'm really hoping I don't make it to the induction, and I am feeling a little on the fence about it. I guess I just need to see how these next 36 hours go.

I was late with Nora. It's very frustrating. I lost my mucous plug for a few weeks, but when the big piece came out it was soon after that - within two days, I'd say.

In the meantime, walk, walk, walk. And sit on your exercise ball. Stay upright as much as possible.

Listen to what your body is telling you. You can always cancel the induction. I should know, I canceled 2 of mine. :D Mine was for a medical reason (PIH) which was the only reason I went through with it, because I was worried about something happening to the baby if my bp kept going/staying up. Otherwise I would have felt comfortable just letting him come on his own.

If the doc questions it, tell them that it didn't feel right to you to have medical intervention at this point as you've had a stellar pregnancy and no complications of any sort. It's your body and your baby and only you (and Steve) should have a say in the important decisions as long as everything else (vitals, etc) looks ok.

I went into labor a few days after I lost my plug with Savannah. I can't remember if I lost it with Wesley.

I agree with some of the ladies here, if you really don't feel comfortable with the induction tomorrow, tell your Dr. you want to wait. Weren't you saying in another post that your due date might be off anyway?

Honestly, Id say theres no hold up at all! Those are 3 very good things that show progress! I had none of them! So it shows your body will go into labor SOON!

That's what I thought too, but I just can't seem to get into the contractions part. I'll get BH contractions, and I'll get cramping, but it seems they never occur at the same time.
