I hope that everyone had a great New Year’s! On Friday, I went to my friend’s house for a low-key dinner party. I ended up going by myself, because Steve was sick and cranky, so he didn’t want to go anywhere. Butthead. There were not many people there, and I liked it that way, because there weren’t five hundred conversations going on at the same time. I left at about 11 and headed home to celebrate the new year with Steve. We shared a nice kiss as the ball dropped, and then watched a movie. We watched “Napoleon Dynamite,” which was like the weirdest, dumbest movie, but it was funny too.

Saturday, we slept in, and then headed over to IHOP for our traditional breakfast/lunch. We had been arguing that day, because again, he was cranky and being a butthead. I probably wasn’t helping, but still. For half of the evening, we just sat on the couch, and we were so bored. Then we launched into one of our famous discussions about how we have nothing in common. I tried coming up with suggestions for things we could do, and at one point, I said he should bring out his poker felt and we could play Let It Ride. A lightning bolt had hit both of us at that moment, and we decided to do something totally spontaneous. We looked up some tribal casinos on the internet, and found one in San Diego County that had Let It Ride, so we decided to head down there (Pala Casino, for the locals). An hour and a half later, we were at our destination, and went to town. We ended up losing for the evening, but we’re going to plan a trip to Vegas next month, which will hopefully be a little more lucrative :).

Sunday was my final Alias marathon, and my mom’s birthday. We finished the last half of season three, and then headed down to Buca di Beppo for dinner with my family. It was a nice evening, full of good food and conversation. Steve and I chatted for a little bit in bed before calling it a night, and we resolved to put more energy into our relationship. We’ve been going through the motions a lot lately, and I think that’s part of the reason why we haven’t been getting along.

Today, I’m a little under the weather. Whatever Steve had last week, I’m starting to get too. My throat is red, sore, and scratchy, and will probably only get worse over the next few days. I thought about staying home from work, but I’m not that miserable, and we just had a 4-day weekend; I didn’t want anybody to think that I was trying to extend my vacation time. I have a good attendance record here at work, so I doubt anyone would really think I was trying to just get an extra day off, but still.

It's raining like crazy out here! I haven't seen this much rain in California in a very long time. I love to watch it and listen to it, but it's not so fun to drive in. Apparently, many motorists share my sentiments, because the freeways were pretty light this morning. It's supposed to rain all week too, yay!

I’m learning to use Photoshop! I’ve made two Alias icons so far, and they totally suck because I don’t know what I’m doing, but I’m trying :). Once I make a few more, I’ll post them in the Alias icons community. I have some grand ideas for a few, I just don’t know how to make them happen.

Breakfast – big bowl of Cheerios, Yoplait light yogurt smoothie
Lunch – tomato soup, grilled cheese Uncrustables
Dinner – cheese enchiladas, rice, refried beans (no lard)

Since I’m making a quasi-effort to eat healthier, I’m going to start writing down what I eat during the day. Since I don’t have much in the way of options when I go to school, I eat cheese enchiladas pretty much every night that I’m there. Thursday and Friday are up for grabs, but I always have cheese enchiladas Monday through Wednesday. The good thing is that I eat it before school, at around 5:00, so I don’t eat for the rest of the night.

Two weeks ago, I went out to dinner with some friends from school (the night that I threw up). As I was driving everyone back to school, we decided to roll all the windows down. When I did, I heard a really bad noise in the driver’s side back seat window. I tried rolling up the window (power windows), it wouldn’t roll up. Once we stopped the car, we were able to manually push the window up, but only if the car was still on.

I was bummed that my window broke, but what makes it worse is that when I drive, it just starts rolling down on its own, like sliding down. This is especially a problem right now because of all the rain we’ve been getting. I’ve been driving to work in the morning with my back window rolled down, so I have to crank the heat to compensate for the cold air that’s coming in. I called the Ford dealership to find out how much it would cost to have the motor replaced for it, and I was told that it would be about $350. Ouch! I swear I’m going to start buying extended warranties now.
