On Friday, we got our tree, which I’ve already posted about. It’s so lovely and it smells so good! That was pretty much all we did that night, just hung out at home, decorating the tree. Steve was in the garage putting together one of my gifts so that he could hide it. That makes no sense to me, but okay.

On Saturday, we slept in a little, and I took my car in to get an oil change. While I was waiting, I decided to test drive my next car, a Ford Freestyle. Not exactly the hallmark of coolness, but I think it’s really cute, and perfect as a family car. It drove well and it’s so roomy! I know I’m going to need a car like that someday, especially after having to wrestle to get Steve’s computer into my little Ford Focus. Here’s a picture of it, sitting 5 inches higher than a car, and 4 inches lower than an SUV:

After getting back from getting my oil changed, Steve and I headed over to the mall to grab some lunch and do a little bit more shopping. When we got home, Steve’s parents came over for a few minutes to check out our lights and our tree. Fun stuff! We got some dinner, and then sat down to watch “The Terminal.” It was a cute movie, I just love Tom Hanks, he’s such a nice guy.

On Sunday, Steve had a soccer game, so I headed over to the park with him to watch. They actually won, yay! The coach/captain of the team just had a baby (well, his wife did), and his wife brought him by to show off. He was the most adorable little baby, so tiny! It makes me want one so badly, but now is definitely not a good time. Steve’s friend Donovann came over with his girlfriend after the game and hung out for a while as I read through the store ads for the week. The rest of the day was pretty much spent doing chores and all that fun stuff.

When we were going to bed last night, Steve told me that one of the people at his work was going to be changing their job function, leaving a position open for an associate director of financial aid. According to Steve, this is his dream job, so after it was announced, he went to his boss and asked her about the position. It said that he needs 5 years of experience in financial aid, but he only has a little less than 3. When he told her that, she said she would try to get the experience required lessened to 2 or 3 years instead so that he can reasonably apply for it. This would be a wonderful opportunity for him to climb the ladder at his job. It would pay about $10-15,000 more a year, which we could definitely use! I’m not exactly sure when they plan to open up the position, but he’s very eager to apply, and since the school promotes from within very heavily, he has a good chance of getting the job! The only bad thing is that he has to work at the other campus, which means a longer commute (haha, now he’s going to know how it feels!), but it’s also in somewhat of a crappy area, and I’m not too crazy about that. But the person who is leaving that title was a girl, so he figures that if she can make it, so can he.

Thanks! That money would definitely come in handy, especially since I won't be working during my externship!

YAY for a potential move up for Steve. Hope it works out for him!

Isn't little Nathan too cute. Landon and I have icky colds and I didn't want to be out and figured Malynnda would bring the little one and didn't want to pass our colds onto him (them, really). Fun that the boys actually won. YAY. BTW, Jim jacked his toe. It's so gross, swollen and black and blue. GROSS!!! I can only imagine what the other guys leg looks like :)

Thanks, I hope it works out too!

Nathan is adorable, he was late, and only weighed 6lbs 6oz! Tiny! Yeah, I heard about Jim's toe. As he gingerly put it at the game, "I f**ked up my toe."
