Owen is 2 weeks old today!

Me - Continuing to heal very well. BFing still has its ups and downs, but I'm feeling good about it overall.

Steve - Goes back to work tomorrow. I'm really bummed about this, but I know that Steve hates being away from work for so long. He told me last night that he feels so useless because he can't feed Owen when he's hungry, but I assured him that it's been very important having him around. He's out getting Owen's birth certificate right now.

Owen - Such a cute little man! His evening fussiness has definitely increased, and he seems to cluster feed a lot. He'll go 3 hours without eating, and then he'll eat every hour for the next 3 hours, usually for only about 15 minutes. We don't put him down to sleep at night until we go to bed ourselves, at around 11 or 12, and he'll sleep until usually 5am. Despite the long stretch, it's still really difficult for me to get up and feed him. After feeding him, he'll go back down until 9 or 10. His umbilical cord stump fell off yesterday, at 13 days.

He's so big for 2 weeks!
as for the cluster feeding, Your body is adjusting to his feeding, the more he feeds, the more milk you will make. You, your body & Owen are figuring out the right amount. It will all work! Im all proud of you for breastfeeding! I know how tough it is!

holy cow, you have GREAT long stretches of sleep! We still haven't gotten longer than 4.5 hours at a time (and that has only been 2-3 times). Thomas is usually up every 2-3 hours all night. Good job sticking with the BF. It has been relatively easy for us, and I still get frustrated!

He's already loosing the "newborn" look quite a bit, amazing.

Good luck in being home w/out Steve. At least you had 2 weeks, that's awesome! If I have a week w/ Jim I'll be lucky.

Wow! He is looking so much older already! You are so lucky to have those long hours of sleep right now. With Leo, I was seriously a ZOMBIE.. he would wake up to eat every 1 1/2 - 2 hours.

He totally looks like he is throwing up a gang sign! :)

I am impressed that he will sleep for so long! Jacob has started giving us one 4 hour stretch between feedings every night. So along with the feeding and having to keep him upright for 20-30 min after, I have been getting 3 hours in a row and it is fabulous! :)

Is he only doing 15 minutes because he's falling asleep? Sounds like it going well otherwise.

That picture is hilarious. The combination of the hand and the facial expression is too funny.

I'm sorry Steve has to go back to work. I'm glad you had two weeks together as a family though.

Happy 2 weeks! I can't believe how quickly time is passing. Yay for longer stretches of sleep for both of you! Tyler was up every 3 hours on the dot for the first couple months, and nursing sessions were usually 30-45 minutes each. :)

Sounds like things are going great!! Sorry Steve has to go back to work :( I know how hard that is.

I'm so jealous of the sleep! Clustering feeding SUCKS. It does pass though. Hang in there!

I love that picture -- it looks like he's tossing a pizza or something. Hee hee!

You're lucky he sleeps that long, that's one thing I worry about when I have kids is not getting sleep because i NEED my sleep, and he is already looking a little older and so adorable :)

Glad to hear you are feeling good.

What a cutie!

Would you consider introducing bottles so Steve can feed Owen? I know you have to wait until the baby is "hooked" onto BF, how long does that take??

Adorable pic! Just an fyi - Lauren did that cluster feeding thing too! She'd eat every 2.5 hours or so during the day and then every hour on the hour from 6-9 or so. Then I'd wake her up before we went to bed around 12am and feed her again and then she'd sleep until 5 or so (and then slowly it was 9am). I LOVE it. I plan to purposely feed my next baby that way!

Sorry Steve is headed back to work. I agree, men like to feel useful and I think babies in general make them feel a bit useless:). DH loved playing with Lauren, but I know he was glad to get back to the routine of work. Keep enjoying everyday:)
