Recap of sorts
Dec. 28th, 2007 09:43 pmI hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! My house was packed with people, but it ended up pretty good. I woke up that morning feeling like ass, but managed to trudge through with only a minor meltdown in the privacy of my bathroom. My name was being called every 30 seconds and after a while, I just couldn't handle it anymore.
We got up in the morning, and headed to our guest room to open up gifts. Highly unorthodox, yes, but we couldn't leave the gifts under the tree because the cats would tear them open, so we put everything in there. I got some great stuff, including:
Pajamas
$50 in iTunes gift cards
Grey's Anatomy trivia game
Wind ornament to hang outside
Chill mat and USB keyboard for my laptop
A bunch of collage picture frames
A cheap digital camera to keep in my diaper bag
A funny book about neurotic cats
2 Nintendo DS video games, and pen styluses (styli?)
Steve loved his gifts, and laughed about the Blue Man Group tickets, because he was going to get me a pair too, so he cheated and looked at the credit card bill. From my parents, I got a few sweaters and a really kick ass ticket to see Phantom of the Opera, woo hoo! This will be my 4th time seeing it. I also got some little verbal and brain challenge cards, a plushy robe, and a flash drive to store my pictures of Owen. My brother LOVED his R2-D2, yay!
Everyone started showing up around 1 or 1:30, and we had already set up the tables and chairs the night before, so we were ready to roll. My stupid cousins ended up not showing up, hooray! I wasn't surprised that they didn't, and was very happy. Since I was feeling icky, my aunt helped run the show, since she's a seasoned veteran at hosting holiday family gatherings. Thank God for her. As I mentioned earlier, I had a meltdown at one point and had to escape so that I could cry, ugh. Plus, we had 3 tables set up, and only one of them ended up being used, as it was a really nice day, so half of the people ended up eating outside. Fine by me! We still have tons of dishes left in the aftermath, but we took the tree and all the decorations down on Wednesday, so the house is back to normal.
