In other news, I got a really sad email from one of my former co-workers. When I worked at the district, there was a guy named Shawn who worked at the work order desk. Shawn had long struggled with kidney problems due to a untreated strep infection that he got when he was 12. He had two kidney transplants, and at the time I left the district, his kidneys were failing, and soon after, he ended up going on dialysis. This morning, I got an email that he passed away. I believe he was about 50 years old. I know that this is better for him, because I saw how much he suffered, but I'm truly sad about this. Shawn was a very unique, and extremely intelligent individual. He was always so witty, and I was one of the few in the office who appreciated his sarcasm. He was very supportive and proud of me when I went back to school to become a surgical tech, and on my last day of work, he gave me a Humpty Dumpty piggy bank for our first baby. I'll miss him. His funeral was today, but unfortunately, I got the email too late, so I missed it.
