Disneyland recap
Feb. 1st, 2006 07:51 pmI got up at about 8 this morning and got ready for my big day at Disneyland :D! I went to the bank to get some money (for Disneyland and for home), but I haven't used my ATM card in so long, I couldn't remember my PIN number! So I went over to Steve's work to get his card. Dropped off the card, dropped off half the cash, and I was on my way.
I was supposed to meet my co-worker at 9:30 in front of California Adventure, but I was running late because of the bank stuff, so I didn't get there until almost 10. We got in and started walking around for a few minutes before the park officially opened, and then she said she had to go pick up her mother in law from the hospital! I ended up going solo today, which ended up to be pretty cool. It's a lot easier to squeeze onto a ride when there's only one person :).
I wanted to hit Space Mountain first, but they said it wasn't open, so I was pissed. I was afraid that they meant it wouldn't be open at all, which would've bummed me out because I hadn't been on it since they redesigned it. Instead, I went to Splash Mountain first, always a favorite! Here's a picture of me on it, I'm in the very back:

After Splash Mountain, I walked over to Thunder Mountain, but it wasn't open yet either, so I walked back to Space Mountain, and it was open, yay! I got there right at the right time, because I only had to wait about a minute in line. Awesome! Pretty much the whole day was like that, which was nice. I was a little disappointed in Space Mountain's new design. It didn't seem much different from the old design, except for the fact that they took out the drop that I loved. Ah well. Off to Star Tours, then to Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain again, in a log full of sorority girls, then Pirates of the Caribbean, and Indiana Jones.
After I had my fill of rides there, I was starving, so I walked over to Downtown Disney. Nothing looked good, so I went to California Adventure. When I got there, my friend John (was my boyfriend when I was 15; now he lives in Wisconsin) called me to tell me that I suck. I called him when I got off Star Tours and told him I was at Disneyland, which is where we first hung out and started going out, so he was calling me back to tell me that, and then we got to chat, which was nice because we always seem to play phone tag. I haven't talked to him in over a year.
I found some chicken strips and French fries at the boardwalk, and right after that, I went on California Screamin', which was sooooooooo fun! I went on it again right after I got off. I went on another ride called Mulholland Madness or something like that, and I hated it. It's one of those little roller coasters that you see at county fairs, and it whips you around corners like nobody's business, but also feels like you're going to go flying off the track.
In the middle of all of this, I got a call from work. Oh great. Apparently, they couldn't find the trays that I made, so I told them where they were. Then the doctor told me that it didn't have the instruments she needed for the second case, and she wanted me to come in. Shit. I told her where I was, but that I could come in. She said nevermind, and that she would call the other nurse. Now I feel bad that she had to go in because I screwed up. Ugh.
Then I headed over to the Tower of Terror. Again, pretty much walked right on. The second I sat down, I thought to myself, what am I getting myself into?! It ended up being a lot less painful and a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I thought they just took you up to the top and then dropped you, but that's not how it works. I ended up going on it 6 times! I wanted to go more times, but I get motion sickness really easily, so my stomach couldn't take anymore. Here are pictures from the first two times I went. The last four times, there was a cast member standing there, so I didn't want to take pictures. In both pictures, I'm in the back. In the second picture, I'm doing jazz hands:

What amazed me about this ride is how many young kids were on it! I was a chickenshit when I was a kid; there was no way I would ever get on a ride like that. On my 4th time, the guy in front of me had his 4 year old son with him, and the kid loved it!
