This week has been pretty crazy busy for me. I worked until 8pm on Tuesday after spending all that money at the vet earlier, then worked at the dental place on Wednesdays, then back at the plastic surgeon's yesterday for another 10 hour shift, and then I got called into work at the plastic surgeon's today because the office girl called out sick. More money for me, woo hoo!
The dental place ended my assignment without even telling me. How rude is that?! When I left on Wednesday, I was given no indication that I wouldn't be returning, but then I started getting phone calls from the temp agency, asking if I wanted my account executive to start looking for a new assignment for me. I was slightly annoyed, as you could imagine.
Poor Bogey is still so sick :(. I ended up having to go back to the vet to pick up some antibiotics. Her liver enzymes were high, but the good news is that she's getting enough calcium, which is very important for iguanas. I've had to wrap her in a towel to give her the antibiotics, and every time I do, this clear liquid starts coming out of her nose and mouth, and it smells horrible. I have no idea what it is, and it's really scary. I guess it happened when she was in the back room at the vet too. I also have to force feed her baby food. It's so sad you guys; it breaks my heart to see her so miserable like this. I had to force feed her one other time when she was a baby, and that was really hard too.
I had my job interview this morning in the labor and delivery department. The job itself sounds really cool; in one part, I would be the surgical tech for emergency c-sections, very excited. In the other part, I would be helping maintain stock, distributing linens, and assisting with delivery. Again, very exciting :). The pay is pretty damn good, and it's a 12-hour shift, so I get time-and-a-half after 8 hours. I didn't walk away feeling really great about this interview though. They didn't really ask me anything; they mostly talked about the job and that was pretty much it. Though it's the same thing that happened at the plastic surgeon's office, I'm not so sure an establishment like this would be willing to take a chance on a newbie. There are two things in my favor though; I am looking for a part-time situation and can be fairly flexible, and there are two positions open. Cross your fingers, I should be hearing back early next week!
I take my certification exam tomorrow, woo hoo! Once I pass it, I get a $2 an hour raise at the plastic surgeon's office, sweet. In taking the practice exam, I learned that I will pretty much barely pass. You have to get a 75% to pass, and I scored about an 80%, which isn't terrible, but I need to bring that up. I've been studying a lot tonight, and should probably get back to doing that now. Wish me luck! After that, I'm going to meet Steve at his co-worker's house for the Patriots-Broncos game. Fun.
