Hmm... well, I guess whatever you feel is best for you. Personally, my child would be my primary concern. I read quite a few articles on it last night after writing to you (just google "iguana" "salmonella" "children") and many of them said the risk is there regardless of if the child comes in contact with the iguana or not and even if it always stays inside a cage (which I could never do to an animal-- I mean, have it in there constantly)
And yeah, there is always a CHANCE of salmonella in raw eggs & chicken (it's not true it's ALWAYS there) but that stuff gets cooked out of both of those. To me, I see it like letting your child play around an area that is smeared with raw eggs. It could touch that area that is smeared, it could not. And if they do touch it, they COULD get sick or they COULD NOT. But why risk it?
Just my personal opinion.... I'm definitely not telling you to get rid of your animal. I'm very much an animal lover. I don't know... it's just a scary chance to take.
