I painted the second coat yesterday afternoon, and when I went to look at it this morning, I could see some spots that were more painted than others. Is it worth it to go back in there to try to paint the uneven spots, or should I just leave it? From certain angles, you can't even see it, but you can see it when you just walk into the room. Part of the problem is the texture coat. I guess the walls have been painted over so many times in the past, the new texture coat they put on really stands out. Blah!

Below are some pictures of the progress of the walling off of the door in Owen's room.

Paint's not dry yet )

The drywall guys just got here and apparently, the mud is still wet, so instead of doing the texture coat today, they're going to put more mud on the wall, and then come back to texture it tomorrow. It's a good thing that we got the invoice in writing so that they don't try to screw us out of more money. I just can't wait to see how it looks once it's painted and everything. Even now, Steve and I look at it, and it just seems so strange to not have a door there.

Bang bang!

It's construction day :D! In Owen's room, there is this extra door that is used as a shortcut to go from his room into the laundry room. Considering this house is only 1048 square feet, we don't really need any shortcuts around here, so we're having it walled off. Plus, we need the wall space for the furniture. The contractor came this morning to frame the doorway, and the drywall guys just got here to hang the drywall. One of the guys is outside smoking, which I'm slightly annoyed about, because I don't want him coming in here, smelling like smoke and stinking up the room (no offense to my smoking friends!).

Because the wall in the laundry room (the other side of the wall from Owen's room), had wainscoting and wallpaper, it all had to be taken down, so now I have this big ugly wall, and I'm not sure what to do with it. The other walls in the laundry room all have the same look, so it looks like we'll need to redo the entire laundry room. Hopefully that's not too large an undertaking, and considering that it's a small room, it's probably pretty easy. I just don't know what I want to do.

In other news, I got to deal with my lovely, useless doctor's office again. I called on Friday to get the results of my lab work and my glucose test, and they said they'd call me back within 10 minutes. It was nearing closing time, and they never called me back. Nice. So I called again today, and they ended up calling me back within about 5 minutes. I passed my glucose tests and my labs looked good, yay :D!
