2 weeks!

Owen is 2 weeks old today!

Me - Continuing to heal very well. BFing still has its ups and downs, but I'm feeling good about it overall.

Steve - Goes back to work tomorrow. I'm really bummed about this, but I know that Steve hates being away from work for so long. He told me last night that he feels so useless because he can't feed Owen when he's hungry, but I assured him that it's been very important having him around. He's out getting Owen's birth certificate right now.

Owen - Such a cute little man! His evening fussiness has definitely increased, and he seems to cluster feed a lot. He'll go 3 hours without eating, and then he'll eat every hour for the next 3 hours, usually for only about 15 minutes. We don't put him down to sleep at night until we go to bed ourselves, at around 11 or 12, and he'll sleep until usually 5am. Despite the long stretch, it's still really difficult for me to get up and feed him. After feeding him, he'll go back down until 9 or 10. His umbilical cord stump fell off yesterday, at 13 days.

Nah, we just pretty much let him dictate the schedule for the most part. After a couple months of going to bed late (midnight or later), I decided we needed to do something to move his bedtime to an earlier time b/c I needed sleep badly. We started to introduce a bedtime routine (bath, bottle/nurse, bed) and gradually moved his bedtime up by 10-20 minutes each day until he was down for the night between 7-7:30 and we've kept it there since then. On days he doesn't nap well we'll put him down a bit earlier but so far haven't kept him up later than ~7:45 b/c I'm afraid of messing with his schedule and paying for it later...
