Dr. Phil

Oh my God you guys, Dr. Phil was so fun today! We got up at 5:15 (UGH!), showered, and headed off to my work. I set up a few things, just in time for the driver to pick us up at 6:30. We got to the studio before 7:30, which is pretty good time considering we were driving into LA during the morning rush hour. We waited in the car for a few minutes, and then we were brought inside! They had these little breakfast packs of a banana or chocolate muffin, and a bagel. They also had water for us in our dressing rooms. My new avatar is from the sign that they put outside our dressing room door. How cool is that?!

When we got to the dressing rooms, they looked at our outfits. They didn't like Steve's tie, and his pants were too short, so they gave him a new tie and another pair of pants. They didn't like my outfit at all, because they didn't want us to both be in dark colors, so I ended up in a whole new outfit! I went there with a black button down shirt, black pants, black loafers, and a teal sweater blazer, and ended up going on stage with a gray suit, a turquoise shirt, and different black shoes.

After wardrobe, I was sent to makeup. They made me look damn good :). I can't believe I spent $300 for someone to do my makeup for my wedding, and this was free! Same quality too; it's 8 hours later and it still looks good! After makeup, they did my hair. They flat ironed it, and I loved how it came out. Almost makes me want to run out and buy one. I got lots of compliments on my hair from the lady who did it; she referred to it as virgin hair, because I've never dyed or highlighted it.

When we were all prettied up (Steve got a little powder too), we headed to a holding area behind the studio audience. I was getting so excited and nervous at this time; we were going to be on TV! Since the producers loved the energy we had in our interview, they put us on first, woo hoo :D! The other couples (there were 4 other couples) were seated in the front row, and we hid out behind the audience until after Dr. Phil did his introduction.

As soon as the music started, we got so excited and nervous! Dr. Phil came out, talked about the show's topic for the day, and then introduced our video. For that 10 hours that the crew spent at our house, our video was only like 30-60 seconds! They hardly put any of the good stuff in! Kari's website was only on screen for like a second; I was bummed. While they were playing our video, we walked out to the chairs, shook hands with Dr. Phil, and sat down. I got to sit closer to him; I guess he almost always has the female sit closest :).

Once the video was done, we chatted a little, and then he pointed back to the screen behind him to show who he thought was right. He ended up agreeing with Steve, which I figured would happen, and it was fine with me. It said it in big huge letters too: "Steve is right." I'm sure he'll brag about it until the end of time :p. However, Dr. Phil did validate my desire to have a baby, and suggested that we formulate a plan, and work towards that. Steve failed to mention how much money I make at the plastic surgeon's office, so when Dr. Phil did the math, he said that we only have $116 left over each month after paying bills, which isn't true at all. But I guess it will be even easier to work towards our goal if we factor in the money I'm making.

We were only up there for about 5 minutes or so; it was over so quickly! I thought we had gotten less time than everyone else, because it went by so fast, but when I talked to my mom later, she said that we seemed to get as much time as everyone else. One of the producers said that the first segment, which we were on, is the longest segment, but we weren't in half of it because Dr. Phil was doing his introduction and stuff.

In the end, Dr. Phil ended up agreeing with everyone who had sent the letters. Luckily, I wasn't the only girl who he didn't agree with; I would've felt pretty stupid then :p. I wish we had had more time to chat with Dr. Phil, but I guess he had some stuff to do in the afternoon, which is why our taping got bumped up.

I still have no idea when it airs; I don't think the producers even know! We asked, and no one could give us an answer, though it sounds like it will be in April sometime. They said that the producers would call us when they found out, or we could just keep checking the Dr. Phil website.

So that was pretty much our day! We had a great time in the car on the way back, remembering the day, and marveling over how quickly it passed. I had to go to work after that; got back in just in time for a minor procedure. Luckily, it wasn't a late night, and I was home by about 5:30.

I am sooooooo glad that I decided to do the show. I was so nervous at first, but it turned to be so much fun, and Dr. Phil made me feel so at ease while I was up there. It truly was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and one that I will never forget!
