Today was my first day flying solo as a surgical tech! And I even got Christmas gifts from two of the girls! I was so nervous all morning; I thought I was going to throw up. Once I got into the groove of things, however, I did pretty well. No major mistakes, no break in aseptic technique (I was even complimented on it!), and I was able to effectively help the surgeon during the procedure. After the procedure was over, the surgeon asked me how I thought I did, and I told her that I thought I did pretty well. Luckily for me, she agreed :). I still had lots to do when the surgery was over, so when I got home, I was exhausted. But my evening wasn't over yet.

Tonight was Steve's Christmas party, which was moved from his work to his boss' house, due to a power outage at the campus. Instead of doing a secret Santa exchange, they always do a white elephant gift exchange. These things are so freaking funny; it never gets old! There's this plastic lobster that has been in the gift exchange for about 14 years now, and every year, everyone waits to see who gets it. Last year, Steve got it, so we put it back in the exchange this year. When a lady picked it up to open it, she screamed and then dropped the box on the ground; it was so funny!

I decided to steal this plastic frog that had little internal organs to help you learn its anatomy. Since I'm a medical junkie, I thought this was pretty cool. But then someone stole the frog from me, so I had to steal something else. To show you how immature I am, this is what I VOLUNTARILY stole from someone:
